The Belize zoo was opened in 1983 to provide a home for animals used in a documentary film. Not only it quickly became a popular place to visit but also now considered a sanctuary for the animals there. In fact, it is also known as “The Best Little Zoo in the World”, and a great place for animal lovers to visit.
The Belize Zoo is home to over 157 animals representing over 45 native species. As a matter of fact the animals are kept in their natural habitat. The animals were either donated, rescued, born in the zoo, orphaned or brought to the zoo for rehabilitation. Moreover you are able to get close up pictures of your favourite animals in their natural environment at the Belize Zoo.
