This tour begins with a 45-minute drive through the countryside to Altun Ha (“Rockstone Water” in Mayan). Learn about this ancient intelligent culture and this city that was once a very important ceremonial and trading centre for the Mayans. You will get climb up to the top of the tallest temple (The Temple of the Masonry Arts). On top, there’s a great view of the ancient city and you will see the alter that the Mayans built on top of the temple that was used for sacrifices. Interestingly the logo on the local beer, Belikin is a depiction of the temple at Altun Ha.
After exploring Altun Ha the tour continues on to the most unique Zoo in the region. Here the animals are kept in their natural habitat. At the Belize Zoo, you will see the Harpy Eagle, the largest in the world, the elusive Jaguar and Puma, tropical birds including the Toucan and the almost extinct Scarlet Macaw. This a great tour and fun for the entire family.
